Kerala: The Kerala State President of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), CPA Latif, has warmly welcomed the news that the party’s National President, MK Faizi, has been granted bail. Faizi was released after spending approximately ten months in custody.

In a statement issued today, CPA Latif expressed that the release of the “beloved leader” has brought great happiness and renewed enthusiasm to tens of thousands of party workers and social democrats across the country. He described the bail as a victory for constitutional rights.

“Bail is a Constitutional Right”

Latif emphasized that obtaining bail is a fundamental constitutional right of every citizen. He criticized the circumstances surrounding Faizi’s detention, alleging that injustice occurs when investigative agencies and home departments prioritize the interests of the ruling party over fairness.

“Violent protests against anti-people and racist actions of governments, and retaliatory measures against leaders who organize popular struggles, are things we have seen throughout history,” Latif stated.

Boost for the Party

The State President noted that MK Faizi’s return to active work after his ten-month incarceration would significantly strengthen the party. He remarked that the “hardships of prison and crowns of thorns” often serve to provide greater experience and inspiration in the life of a leader.

The statement concluded with prayers for the completion of all necessary procedures so that Faizi could return to the public sphere as soon as possible.

Background of the Case

MK Faizi was granted bail by the Delhi High Court in a money laundering case investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He had been in custody since March 2025. The court’s decision is seen as a major relief for the SDPI leadership.
